An Amazing Turn of Events: Freight Update #1

Hello Wizards,

While I am writing this update to you, freight is in motion. More about that in a moment. 

Produced Games

We just received a case of the Kickstarter games here in Toronto, and we can't wait to share some stunning components with you. Since we didn't have the final colours, or the inserts when we last updated you with photos, we thought we'd tantalize you with some now.

It is clear that the production of this game is outstanding. We are so excited to see the photos that you take of your games.

Freight Update

Your games are all scheduled to leave the Shenzhen warehouse ASAP. In fact, VFI is picking the Asia and the Rest of the World games up on Monday. I am awaiting the schedule for Australia/New Zealand, EU/Rest of Europe, UK, and Canada/US. Once I have all of these secured and their dates, I will let you know. It looks like you'll be getting your games on time!! Yay!

Retailers

If you are a retailer and you have a retailer only pledge, I have sent out a confirmation email to you before sending your invoice. Please look for an email from Kids Table BG.

Locking Addresses and Game Movement

Hello Wizards,

We hope that you are well and that those of you enjoying the last moments of the summer are making the best of it. This is a short update to let you know that I will be locking addresses tomorrow. I would like to finalize numbers for freight regions this coming weekend, and can only do that with final addresses. This means that I will begin the freight process starting this coming Monday. This way I can get the games on ships ASAP.

So with that, at 8pm EST on Friday, September 2nd, your addresses will be locked. Make sure to update them within the next day. To update your address, you can find your BackerKit account here. 

Addresses can still be changed for a couple of weeks before fulfilment, however, you cannot do this on your own once addresses are locked. You will have to contact us directly.

So Much Update!!

Hello Wizards,

It's really been too long since I have updated you on the whereabouts of your games. For that I apologize. I keep waiting for that next update from our manufacturer, and each time I get one, there is something else I have to wait for. So, today I bring you all of the information.

Production

About a month ago, when I actually first started writing an update to you, I received an update from our manufacturer. I expected it to say "we'll be done production this week".  Instead, the email had this photo:

The message to me stated that most of the green tiles looked like this and that they had to be reproduced. They told me that it would take 10 days to do this. So, I decided to wait on the green tiles to be finished before I sent out an update. 10 days flew by, mostly because we were at Gen Con during that time (see below). Of course, I continued to inquire, but only yesterday did I get a response about it. Apparently the manufacturer is waiting for the re-production of some wood patch tiles because they found more quality issues. My representative said that they would talk with the production manager to find out when they will be ready and packed. I am guessing another couple of weeks. 

The good news is that we are still on time with everything, even if we are waiting a couple of more weeks. And even better news is that they caught these production issues before they were sent out to us, saving us a lot of time and money.

I assure you when I get the "we're done" email, I will update you immediately.

Gen Con

We had an absolutely fantastic time at Gen Con a couple of weeks ago. Not only was our booth hopping almost every minute the doors were open, but Power Plants was definitely the star of the show. We had it out front to demo to people, and even those who were just passers by, stopped to learn about it. Wizards, this game looks so stunning on the table, that even the non-Kickstarter game turns heads. Not only that, we demoed this game at the Gen Con demo tables, and we received some really incredible feedback. Virtually every person who sat down to play came to our booth to buy the game. Congrats to all of you for helping to make this a reality for us. And thank you for your support getting the game to Gen Con. It really made a difference for us.

Glamour Shots

Over the last while, Sean, our Community Manager and resident photographer, has been having fun with the KS sample of Power Plants. We really just can't get over the beauty of this game. Thankfully it plays well too!

Italian Games

To all of our Italian backers, we wanted to announce that we've switched to a new Italian publishing company to help us make your games. This situation came up very last minute, but we've had to reproduce the rules and the box cover to match the Cranio Creations logo. They have been fantastic to work with so far (this is not our first time working with them - in the past, they produced a game with us called Endeavor: Age of Sail through Burnt Island Games, our other brand). We are excited for this partnership and believe that this will be the beginning of a wonderful relationship between them and KTBG. Italian backers, this will not change your timeline. You will get your games along with everyone else. Yay!

Production Almost Complete

Hello Wizards!!

I hope you are doing well. My apologies for sending this update out a bit late. Covid has been tearing through our home and it has been difficult to get anything done. Especially with this brain fog. But I'm here and excited to tell you that...

We're Almost There

I wanted to let you know that production of Power Plants is scheduled to be complete during the first week of August That will mean that we can likely get the games to the port in Shenzhen the second week in August. How long it will take to get to the various ports around the world is anyone's guess. With the current freight situation, I would say that games arriving to their various ports in late September is probable. This will mean that we'll get your games out to you at some point in October and early November. This is still much before our November 30th prediction. Yay!

That being said, anything can happen along the way. While I like to dream that it will all go smoothly from here on out, that is never the case. We are hopeful that getting all of our ducks aligned much before the games hit the water will be very helpful for us. This is my most important job this summer! 

If you have not yet completed your survey, now is absolutely the time. You can find it here. If you have last minute address changes, now is the time to make them. Once the games are ready to ship, addresses will be locked. Sometime in mid-August we're going to start that process.

Retailers

Please stay tuned over the next month or so for your invoices. I will be in touch.

Unprecedented Times

Backers, you know that you are our lifeline. We wouldn't be doing this without you. We appreciate your support so much. With that, we have a situation where we need to ask for your blessing. This is ask is along the same lines as what we asked our Fall of the Mountain King KS backers (our Burnt Island Games brand). 

Our last game, Creature Comforts, has been on the market for the better part of this year. It is sold out at the distribution level. We only have a few left to sell at the convention.  This will mean that we are heading to Gen Con without a new game. I have asked our manufacturer if it is possible to put together 80 copies of the game to sell at the convention (this is the number we think will help us break even at the booth). They have told us that it's a stretch but they can make it work. 

The games we would sell would be the hobby version, not the Kickstarter version. There will be no KS extras involved. We know that it is tough to swallow this when you've been behind us the whole way through. But we really need it. As you know, everyone is struggling right now. We understand that some of you might feel bad about this, but know, you are our priority. We will not sell even one Kickstarter unit. We promise! We are working really hard to make it such that Power Plants gets into your hands ASAP.  We appreciate your continued support, and we know that you are going to be delighted once you get this game onto your tabletop.

The Waiting Game and Locking BackerKit Addresses

Hello Wizards!

It's been way too long since I last sent an update. For that I apologize. Between very little moving in China, to being inundated with emails and messages over the last month, unfortunately, this update is coming to you late. It will not happen again. 

Manufacturing Update

We are still waiting for a completion date. While I know that they are working on the game every day [when they are operational], the timelines have been lengthened. What used to take 30-45 days is now taking 60-75 days. Between the shutdowns and the office staff being in and out, it is looking like the 7 weeks we have been waiting isn't enough time. I believe that the games will be done by mid-June. But please don't quote me on that. It's been difficult to get an answer from anyone in manufacturing these days.

Locking BackerKit Addresses

That being said, over the next two weeks, we'd like you to go in to your BackerKit profile and make sure that everything is up to date. We will be locking your addresses on June 6th at 8pm EST so that we know which games to send to which region. This will help us get our freight on track ASAP, so that you can get your games ASAP. If you don't remember whether or not you filled out your survey, check in on it here. If you need a state or country change to your address, you'll have to DM us for that change to happen. BackerKit doesn't allow it.
